FTSE 100 & 250 movers in focus:
----------
AG Barr, down 4.2% at 552.00p, 12-month range 543.00p-715.32p. Shares hit this 12-month low on Thursday as Berenberg cuts the Irn-Bru maker to 'hold' from 'buy'. "We believe the outlook for the company remains slightly more uncertain, with a mixed brand performance overall," the German bank says.
----------
NatWest Group PLC, down 3.5% at 664.60p, 12-month range 504.41p-726.00p. Banking stocks tumble amid a bond sell-off on Thursday. While higher yields can support net interest income, they weaken demand for borrowing as they create a generally unfavourable backdrop for consumers. A global bond sell-off has seen UK 30-year gilt yields hit 6% for the first time in nearly 30 years, heaping pressure on the chancellor ahead of his inaugural budget later this month. The yield on the 30-year gilt reached 6.07% in morning trading on Thursday – the highest level since 1998.
----------
Barratt Redrow PLC, down 2.5% at 323.90p, 12-month range 235.40p-410.29p. Bond market angst, coupled with tepid housing market data sends housebuilders lower. House prices rose 0.8% on-year in September, cooling markedly from a 1.6% hike in August, data from mortgage lender Nationwide shows. It was the weakest rate of growth since December 2025.
----------
Gamma Communications PLC, down 2.5% at 1,095.49p, 12-month range 687.00p-1,207.00p. Waterland Private Equity Investment BV pulls out of the bidding race to buy Gamma. Netherlands-based private equity firm Waterland was revealed as a possible suitor for London-based cloud communications and voice services provider Gamma in August. But on Thursday, Waterland said that it does not intend to make an offer for Gamma. At the beginning of September, Gamma agreed a rival approach from Epiris GP III Ltd funds. London-based private equity firm Epiris LLP had initially considered a joint offer with Providence Equity Partners LLP, which dropped out in June. Gamma shareholders, under the terms of Epiris's accepted offer, will be entitled to receive 1,120 pence in cash per share. This values its share capital at about GBP1.02 billion, with an implied enterprise value of approximately GBP1.08 billion.
