Small-cap and AIM movers in focus:
----------
Smarter Web Co, up 13% at 35.62p, 12-month range 24.00p-44.00p. The web design and development and online marketing services provider with bitcoin treasury policy surges as the price of the crypto currency climbs. Bitcoin surged Friday on optimism over US cryptocurrency legislation and the US Treasury's surprise move to buy back more of its own bonds, which fuelled a shift to riskier assets, AFP reports. The world's biggest cryptocurrency by market value climbed 6.9% to USD77,675.94, after reaching its highest level since May, and is up more than 20% since Wednesday.
----------
eEnergy Group, down 12% at 2.2p, 12-month range 1.90p-6.70p. The net zero energy services provider is seeing "some short-term delays in receipt of payments" of around GBP3.2 million in total for completed work with the Mace project. This is due to outstanding completion of paperwork. eEnergy said 65 Mace sites are "now fully operational and energised with the company's energy saving products". Shares hit this 12-month low.
----------
Metals Exploration PLC, up 3.1% at 15.30p, 12-month range 10.30p-19.20. Metals Exploration, which has assets in the Philippines and Nicaragua, says it has made progress at La India, with first gold at the asset on track for December. However, the gold explorer and producer notes some delivery delays due to the Middle East conflict. Metals says structural, mechanical, piping and electrical installation is 50% complete, while bulk earthworks are 93% done. Mine office and heavy mobile equipment construction is complete, while a tailings storage facility is 60% done. On logistics, Metals says: "The company has experienced some delivery delays to certain imported equipment and materials as a result of wider disruption to international shipping linked to the conflict in Iran. The company is evaluating alternative logistics solutions to mitigate the impact on construction." First gold "remains on track for December 2026". "Gold production from Runruno is forecast to be at the upper end of the 2026 production guidance of 40,000 - 48,000 ounces, owing to the mining of higher-grade ore at stage 5 pit. The mining of higher-grade ore is expected for the remainder of 2026," it says.
----------
Springfield Properties PLC, up 3.4% at 110.64p, 12-month range 89.00p-137.00p. The Morayshire-based housebuilder in Scotland calls general meeting for September 10 to ask shareholders to approve a share buyback worth up to GBP13.3 million. Springfield says it plans to repurchase up to 6.0 million shares, but wants the flexibility to extend this to the board's full authority of 11.9 million shares. The authority was granted at Springfield's annual general meeting last year. The buyback could trigger the requirement for a mandatory takeover offer by major shareholders of Springfield, so the company also is asking shareholders to waive this requirement.
