Hutchmed China Ltd - Hong Kong-based biopharmaceutical company - Announces "positive high-level results" from the Sanovo China phase 3 trial of Orpathys plus Tagrisso in treatment-naive patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, whose tumours harbour epidermal growth factor receptor mutation and MET overexpression. Orpathys, or savolitinib, combined with Tagrisso or osimertinib, showed "a statistically significant and highly clinically meaningful improvement in progression-free survival" in the high MET and intention-to-treat patient populations, compared with Tagrisso alone. Hutchmed adds that "the combination also demonstrated a very encouraging clinical benefit in [the secondary endpoint of] overall survival" in both populations. Hutchmed is jointly developing Orpathys with AstraZeneca, which is also commercialising the treatment.
