Hutchmed China Ltd - Hong Kong-based biopharmaceutical company - Initiates the phase Ia portion, or initial dose-finding stage, of a global clinical trial of HMPL-A830 in patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumours. Says the first patient received an initial dose in China on September 24. The phase I study will assess safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, immunogenicity and preliminary efficacy, with the initial dose-escalation stage intended to determine the maximum tolerated dose and recommended dose for expansion. Hutchmed says the antibody-targeted therapy combines a KRAS inhibitor with an anti-EGFR antibody to target KRAS-altered, EGFR-expressing tumours. The company is responsible for global phase I development under an agreement with GSK, which holds worldwide rights outside mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
