Amigo Resources PLC - Africa-focused mining and resource development company - Says preliminary metallurgical results produced a 10-kilogramme copper-rich ingot containing osmium and iridium. The trials aimed to recover additional metals from historical gold-processing tailings in Tanzania. Amigo says preliminary analysis indicated combined osmium and iridium concentrations of 0.614%, although independent assays and further testing are required to confirm the results and assess commercial viability. The company is evaluating a copper-matte processing route and engaging with potential marketing partners to explore demand, pricing and offtake options. Amigo says the work complements its core gold production strategy, with its immediate focus remaining on expanding its Tanzanian operations.
The announcement follows Friday's update, in which Amigo said all major processing equipment had arrived at its Mojimoto and Kabete sites, with installation underway. It said at the time plants are expected to provide combined processing capacity of 600 tonnes per day, with commercial production targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.
