Synergia acted as operator but made licence application in partnership with Wintershall Dea AG. Says licence is "significant milestone" for its Medway Hub CCS project, which provides for the capture and transportation of carbon dioxide emissions from coastal combined-cycle gas turbine power stations. CO2 will be transported in liquid form to a floating vessel and injected into UK Continental Shelf depleted gas fields and saline aquifers. First injection is expected in 2032.
