Genus PLC - Basingstoke, England-based animal biotechnology and genetics company - Gets US Food & Drug Administration approval for its 'PRRS resistant pig' gene edit for use in the US food supply chain. PRRS stands for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, a disease that causes suffering and premature death for pigs. Genus says the success with the US FDA follows "years of close collaboration". It now is seeking approvals for the PRP programme in key US export markets, including Canada, Mexico and Japan.
