Hussar EP513 Prospect Update
Georgina Energy Plc, (LSE: GEX.L), a helium, hydrogen and natural gas exploration and development company with strategic permits in Australia, confirms that civil engineering contractors have completed all pre-drill site and road access works to enable the contracted Ensign 970 drill rig to test of this exciting prospect, which has 330 km² of areal closure and is one of the largest subsalt helium, hydrogen and hydrocarbons prospects remaining untested in onshore Australia.
Highlights
The drilling pad, water well, Turkey’s nest and sump are completed and lined with waterproof sheeting.The water well has been completed and tested on a long term test delivering some 260,000 litres per day.The 20 inch conductor pipe has been drilled and cemented in place.The Hussar airstrip has been cleared, gravelled and rolled to provide a 1,400m length airstrip capable of operation in virtually any weather.Access roads have been cleared, graded and gravelled and compacted where necessary. Mobilisation planning with the Ensign Rig 970 has been almost completed.
Delays for Drill program
The civil engineers and water well drillers have begun demobilising from site however there has been unseasonal record-breaking rain in the district which has prevented all of the contractors’ equipment and trucks being able to demobilise. The Company remained optimistic along with Ensign that mobilisation would occur in September as planned but the continuing road closures have further complicated the program along with flooding.
Leonora, a town close to the start of the main access road recorded a record-breaking 58.8mm of rain in the 24 hours to 9:00 am on Monday, September 7, 2026. This resulted in:

Ongoing road closures in within the Wiluna Shire Council: www.wiluna.wa.gov.au Ongoing restrictions on heavy vehicle access (RAV-Restricted Access Vehicles): www.wiluna.wa.gov.au have prevented any movement of overwidth, over length or over weight vehicles at any times when roads are wet. This means that prime movers hauling triple trailers are banned from large sections of the road network to Hussar within the Shire.
The Company have held ongoing discussions with Ensign Drilling and both parties have concluded that the mobilisation of the drilling rig to the Hussar site represents an extraordinarily high chance of being halted “en route” currently. Furthermore, the Company risks incurring material standby charges from not only Ensign but the other service contractors necessarily involved in this operation which would make any continuing delays costly especially as such time delays cannot be reliably forecast in the current circumstances.
The Company is hopeful of mobilising the drilling rig and associated service contractors in a timely fashion subject to safety constraints including the weather and road conditions to allow for the safe mobilisation of the equipment and personnel.
Further updates will follow as we progress towards a revised spud date with additional site photos which can be viewed by shareholders on the Georgina website.
