Christie & Co publishes Pharmacy Market Review 2026

Annual review highlights continued transaction activity and improved operator performance

Christie Group plc (CTG.L) reports that its agency and advisory business, Christie & Co, has published its Pharmacy Market Review 2026, which shares insights into the UK pharmacy market, drawing on Christie & Co's transactional and valuation activity data, alongside insights from operators across England, Scottland and Wales.

The report illustrates improving financial performance across the pharmacy sector, alongside continued transaction activity.

Building on growing momentum in recent years, Christie & Co advised on, agreed or sold 1,145 pharmacies with a combined value of more than £724 million in across H2 2025 and H1 2026, demonstrating the continued transaction activity in the sector.

Demand for valuation services in the sector also remained strong. Christie & Co completed 312 pharmacy valuation instructions in 2025, up 68% compared to 2024. These volumes have remained strong into 2026, with Christie & Co completing 128 instructions in the first half of the year.

Recent funding uplifts have also supported improved financial performance and profitability across the sector. Christie & Co's analysis found that average gross profit margins increased to 34.6% in H1 2026, while EBITDA margins rose from 9.2% to 11.5%. Pharmacies continue to improve efficiency and expand their clinical and private healthcare services.

The review also points to continued transaction appetite. Christie & Co's survey of operators indicated that three-quarters (75%) plan to either buy or sell a pharmacy within the next three years, while a further 39% identified acquiring a pharmacy as a key growth opportunity.

Christie & Co's market leading Pharmacy team provides brokerage, valuation and consultancy services across the sector. Christie Finance, Christie Insurance and Pinders offer complementary services.
