(Alliance News) - Worley Ltd on Monday announced new contract to support expansion work being carried out by BHP Group Ltd at its Olympic Dam and Carrapateena projects in South Australia.
Worley is a Sydney-based provider of engineering, project and asset management solutions across the energy, chemicals and resources sectors.
The company did not disclose the financial terms of the new agreements with BHP, a diversified miner based in Melbourne, Australia.
Under the contracts, Worley will provide study and engineering, procurement and construction management services to support expansion projects to increase production amid rising demand from electrification and the wider energy transition.
Olympic Dam is home to extensive copper, gold, and uranium deposits, while Carrapateena produces copper concentrate.
"Worley will deliver study and EPCM services concurrently across multiple project phases for potential block cave development and associated infrastructure at Olympic Dam, and the potential expansion of Carrapateena's underground operations and processing infrastructure. Initial EPCM services have commenced for early-phase activities," Worley said.
To deliver its services, Worley will utilise its team in Australia, "industry-leading specialist engineering services providers" and Worley's Global Integrated Delivery team, with support from China and Chile.
"This contract reflects Worley's continued focus on energy transition materials, such as copper, as a priority growth market," commented Worley Chief Executive Officer Chris Ashton.
Worley shares ended 0.3% higher at AUD9.80 each in Sydney on Friday, while BHP shares closed down 0.5% at 3,345.00 pence each in London that same day.
