Workspace chair to step down in July after 9 years, names successor

28th Feb 2023 10:58

(Alliance News) - Workspace Group PLC on Tuesday said Chair Stephen Hubbard will step down in July after nine years on the board, while naming Non-Executive Director Duncan Owen as his successor.

The London-based flexible workspace provider said Hubbard will step down from July 6, having served as chair since July 2020, while adding the appointment of Owen was part of Workspace's long-term succession planning.

Owen joined the board as a non-executive director in July 2021 and has over 30 years of experience in the real estate sector, Workspace said.

It added he has served as the chief executive officer of various public and private companies, with roles including being the global head of real estate at Schroders PLC and CEO of green real estate investor Immobel Capital Partners.

"On behalf of the board and everyone at Workspace, I would like to thank Stephen for the insight and support he has provided over the last nine years. Stephen has made a hugely important contribution to the growth of Workspace and our successful navigation of the challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic," said Workspace CEO Graham Clemett.

"I am pleased the board has identified an excellent successor in Duncan, and I look forward to working closely with him over the coming years as we continue to deliver on the company's exciting growth opportunities."

Outgoing Chair Hubbard added: "When I took over as chair three years ago, one of my objectives was to strengthen the board and plan for my succession. In this regard, I am delighted that this has been successful with Duncan taking over the chair role."

Shares in Workspace were up 0.9% to 511.00 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
