----------

FTSE 100 & 250 movers in focus:

----------

Hill & Smith Holdings PLC, up 3.4% at 3,030p, 12-month range 1,994.00p-3,220.00p. Profit taking in the wake of interim results kept a lid on shares in the infrastructure company, but Hill & Smith is back on the up on Monday. It fell 4.9% on Wednesday last week and then edged down a further 0.2% on Thursday but was flat on Friday. It said on Wednesday it now expects 2026 "underlying operating profit to be modestly ahead of our previous expectations". Its previous view was for an outcome around USD212 million, which would have represented a 6.2% hike from USD199.7 million. Hill & Smith went into Wednesday's report with a year-to-date share price gain of 44%. It is now up 42% so far in 2026.

----------

Telecom Plus PLC, up 2.6% at 877p, 12-month range 638.00p-1,916.00p. Telecom Plus reaffirms annual profit guidance, with customer growth "running slightly ahead" of target. The provider of subscription-style services for essential household services says it still expects adjusted pretax profit between GBP80 million and GBP90 million for the year ending March 31, 2027, at best a decline of 32% from GBP132.2 million in financial 2026. In the first four months of the new financial year, annualised multiservice customer growth ran "slightly ahead of our 10% target for the full year", it explains. "The phasing of the investment programme will increase the weighting of profitability towards the second half of the financial year, with adjusted profit before tax expected to be split approximately 15% to 85% between H1 and H2 respectively in FY27, compared with around 25% to 75% last year," Telecom Plus says. It adds that it has made an "encouraging start" to a five-year plan. In June, it said the plan necessitates around GBP55 million per year of investments. Come financial 2031, it expects the plan to deliver adjusted pretax profit of around GBP175 million.

----------

Plus500 Ltd, up 1.7% at 3,854.00p, 12-month range 2,874.00p-5,535.00p. Cavendish lifts the stock to 'buy' from 'hold', noting the stock has fallen by around a quarter since releasing a second quarter trading update on July 13. The trading platform operator's valuation no longer "adequately reflects the significant strategic progress made over the past two years", Cavendish believes.

----------

Antofagasta PLC, up 1.7% at 3,647p, 12-month range 2,077.00p-4,475.00p. The copper miner suffered steep share price falls of 6.8% and 4.6% on Thursday and Friday last week, after it cut annual output guidance. But shares recover on a boost from a weaker US dollar. "The dollar has slipped back against a basket of currencies, which have helped give a leg up to metals given they are priced in the currency," Wealth Club analyst Susannah Streeter comments. "Copper prices in particular are rising higher on expectations of constrained supply and resilient demand, given how sought after the metal is across multiple sectors from electrification to AI."
