Small-cap and AIM movers in focus:

----------

Cambridge Nutritional Sciences, down 24% at 1.4p, 12-month range 1.26p-3.26p. The medical diagnostics firm reports weaker annual earnings amid "challenging market conditions which necessitated some internal restructuring". It swings to a pretax loss of GBP4.4 million for the year ended March 31, from profit of GBP1.6 million, while revenue declines to GBP7.0 million from GBP8.3 million. "The group has encountered many unforeseen economic and global events which have created many challenges in the year, with the business adapting and placing itself in a good position for the year ahead," it adds.

----------

Somero Enterprises Inc, up 8.9% at 261.55p, 12-month range 170.00p-266.00p. Pretax profit in first half ended June 30 jumps 86% to USD9.1 million from USD4.9 million a year prior, as revenue surges 22% to USD48.7 million from USD39.8 million. Somero ups its interim payout to USD0.0 per share from USD0.04. Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation climb 59% to USD10.1 million from USD6.4 million. For the whole of 2026, it now expects revenue of USD95 million. In July, it said it expected revenue above market expectations which stood at USD86.0 million at the time. Revenue in 2025 amounted to USD88.9 million.

----------

STV Group, down 7.6% at 103.5p, 12-month range 95.60p-124.50p. It reports a wider half-year loss, as it books an impairment in the Studios arm which has suffered due to "delays in decision-making and evolving market conditions". The television broadcaster and content producer says pretax loss in the first half of 2026 widens to GBP22.7 million from GBP200,000 a year earlier. Revenue slumps 27% on-year to GBP66.1 million from GBP90.0 million. The top line decline is despite advertising revenue rises 5% to GBP48.1 million, "slightly ahead of guidance", due to the World Cup. But Studios revenue slumped 63% to GBP15.5 million from GBP42.2 million. "Given the prolonged slowdown in commissioning activity, we have recognised a non-cash impairment charge in Studios, reflecting a prudent reassessment of short- to medium-term market conditions while remaining confident in the long-term growth prospects of our business and the opportunities ahead," CEO Rufus Radcliffe says. The non-cash impairment of assets amounts to GBP25.4 million, hitting its bottom line.

----------

Trifast PLC, down 3.4% at 83.43p, 12-month range 56.20p-95.00p. The manufacturer of fastenings says trading in the current financial year remains in line with market expectations. It puts the expectations at GBP18.6 million for adjusted pretax profit and GBP214 million for revenue in the year ending March 31. However, it notes a "challenging macroeconomic backdrop", which is particularly hitting North American trading.
