Small-cap and AIM movers in focus:
----------
Shoe Zone, up 19% at 72.5p, 12-month range 35.00p-91.16p. Leicester-based retailer Shoe Zone says it continued to trade "positively" through July. As a result, cash and equivalents as at July 25 stood at roughly GBP7.0 million "ahead of original budget". Shoe Zone still expects an adjusted pretax loss of no greater than GBP1.0 million for the year ending October 3. It plans a buyback of up to around GBP3.5 million.
----------
BSF Enterprise, up 14% at 1.15p, 12-month range 0.50p-4.00p. The biotechnology firm, with a focus on lab-grown materials, establishes an exclusive commercialisation and supply partnership for its proprietary bioactive peptide ETSYL. The deal has been struck with Schakau Managementberatung GmbH. "Under the terms executed, key provisions including global market exclusivity, 100% intellectual property retention, and confidentiality are legally binding upon signature," BSF adds. Schakau stands to get exclusive worldwide rights in cosmetics and luxury beauty for an initial 10-year period and it has allocated a EUR300,000 fund for "clinical claim substantiation, regulatory compliance, brand creation, and international distribution capital".
----------
CML Microsystems PLC, up 9.1% at 300.00p, 12-month range 194.00p-380.00p. The developer of mixed-signal, radio frequency and microwave semiconductors hails "encouraging momentum", following a positive final quarter ended March 31. "This progress has continued into the current financial year with firmer demand across all key market verticals. This uplift has supported trading, with the opening months delivering revenue in line with, and order intake ahead of, our expectations," Non-Executive Chair Nigel Clark says at the firm's annual general meeting. "The board remains confident in its growth strategy and a return to operational profitability now looks likely to be achieved earlier in the current financial year than previously expected."
----------
Seeing Machines Ltd, up 7.1% at 5.09p, 12-month range 2.40p-6.48p. Seeing Machines, a maker of vehicle operator monitoring systems, hails an "inflection to profitability", during a "pivotal year". Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation amounted to between USD10.7 million and USD11.7 million in the second half to June 30, compared to a loss of USD13.7 million in the first. For the year as a whole, a loss between USD2.0 million and USD3.0 million is expected, narrowing from USD30.1 million in financial 2025. Adjusted revenue for the year surged 45% to USD76.3 million from USD52.8 million, in line with expectations, it adds. "FY2026 was a pivotal year for Seeing Machines, with record Automotive production volumes, strong revenue growth and a profitable second half that demonstrates the operating leverage in our business. More than 8.2 million vehicles are now on the road with our technology, with Q4 volumes indicative of a transition to a significantly higher quarterly run-rate," CEO Paul McGlone adds.
----------
Jet2 PLC, down 0.7% at 1,568.00p, 12-month range 980.00p-1,676.00p. Shares in travel companies struggle on Tuesday as Brent moves back above USD90 a barrel. It had traded as low as under USD79 a barrel last week Tuesday, but Middle East peace hope has faded since. US President Donald Trump said Monday he would seek conflict compensation from Iran as part of any peace negotiations, citing attacks and killings stretching back decades allegedly backed or perpetrated by Tehran. Peace hope has fluctuated in recent weeks, though shares in airline and package holiday provider Jet2 are still up some 5% over the past month.
