FTSE 100 & 250 movers in focus:

----------

discoverIE Group PLC, up 13% at 786.0p, 12-month range 505.00p-800.00p. Designer and manufacturer of electronic components discoverIE says "strong momentum" it saw last in its prior financial year has continued into this one. Sales in the first quarter ended June are up 6% on-year organically, with orders surging 31% organically. Including recent the buys of Trival and Storm, constant currency sales are 10% higher. "Both businesses are performing well and the regulatory approval process for the acquisition of 3Gmetalworx is progressing. The positive outlook continues with full year adjusted earnings tracking ahead of the board's expectations. The group has a strong order book, pipeline of design wins and acquisition opportunities, and is well placed for continued growth," it adds.

----------

Renishaw PLC, up 6.3% at 5,257.5p, 12-month range 2,860.00p-5,490.00p. Renishaw hails "record" fourth quarter revenue, and it expects annual profit "ahead of expectations". The supplier of manufacturing technologies, analytical instruments, and medical devices says it saw "accelerating growth" as the year ended June 30 progressed. It culminated in record fourth-quarter revenue of GBP243 million, a rise of 27% on-year and 18% on-quarter. "Demand remained strong from customers in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing equipment sector, and from the aerospace and defence sector," Renishaw says. For the full-year, it expects revenue growth of 14% to GBP815 million and adjusted pretax profit of GBP167 million, up 31%. Annual profit is "ahead of expectations", it adds.

----------

HSBC Holdings PLC, up 1.0% at 1,542.80p, 12-month range 908.80p-1,590.00p. It says it will sell its HSBC Life Singapore arm to insurer Allianz for USD2.1 billion. It will also enter into a distribution deal with Allianz, the lender explains. "On completion, HSBC and Allianz will enter an exclusive 15-year bancassurance distribution agreement through which HSBC will continue to distribute high quality insurance products to its customers in Singapore," HSBC says. The Allianz acquisition of HSBC Life Singapore, a diversified life and health insurance business, is subject to regulatory approvals but expected to close in the first half of 2027. Allianz says: "Allianz's expanded presence in Singapore strengthens its position in one of Asia's most attractive insurance markets and leading international financial hubs. The market's appeal is underpinned by strong fundamentals, including steady economic growth, robust and independent regulation, a large savings pool and a rapidly ageing population."

----------

Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC, up 0.6% at 1,320.50p, 12-month range 1,015.74p-1,563.00p. Shares edge higher after a 2.5% slump on Thursday on tech sector worries. Both Google owner Alphabet Inc and carmaker Tesla Inc sank after releasing quarterly earnings. SMIT owns shares in Tesla but not Alphabet. Shares in another holding, Space Exploration Technologies Corp, have endured a less-than-stellar time on the public market, meanwhile. Shares closed 2.6% higher at USD118.24 on Thursday in New York, but off its USD135 float price.

----------

BP PLC, down 0.8% at 551.75p, 12-month range 393.30p-609.40p. Brent moves back below the USD100 a barrel mark to USD97.24 early Friday. But the Middle East conflict still threatens to keep the crude price elevated. BP is up 15% since the conflict began in late February, hitting its 12-month high in March.
