FTSE 100 & 250 movers in focus:

----------

Softcat, down 8.3% at 1,764.50p, 12-month range 1,083.00p-2,134.00p. Softcat came into its annual earnings on the back of a strong share price performance over the summer, surging some 30%. However, the stock slumps on Wednesday. The IT infrastructure products and services provider reports better-than-expected annual profit. In the year to July 31, pretax profit increases 14% to GBP202.8 million from GBP178.2 million, while revenue rises 35% to GBP1.98 billion from GBP1.46 billion. Underlying operating profit is 19% higher at GBP215.1 million from GBP180.1 million, Softcat reports, topping company-compiled consensus of GBP208.0 million. "Softcat delivered outstanding performance in FY2026, continuing the momentum established in the first half. Growth in gross profit and underlying operating profit came in significantly ahead of our expectations at the start of the year," Chief Executive Officer Graham Charlton says.

----------

Big Yellow Group, up 5.3% at 841.00p, 12-month range 790.00p-1,208.00p. Ancora Holdings Group calls on the self storage provider to launch a comprehensive strategic review, including a sale process. In a statement, Cleveland, Ohio-based wealth management and advisory firm Ancora says it believes that a sale of Big Yellow represents the best risk-adjusted outcome for shareholders. Ancora says in its statement late Tuesday that it has taken a more than 4% stake in Big Yellow.

----------

Chemring Group, up 4.3% at 521.50p, 12-month range 446.52p-650.75p. The supplier of technology products for aerospace, defence and security wins a deal worth at least USD170 million over the first five years with a "major" US defence prime contractor, which it doesn't name. The agreement is for the supply of the COTS Nav-Sync Miniature Radar altimeter, used in drones, by UK subsidiary Roke Manor Research.

----------

IntegraFin Holdings, down 2.0% at 361.25p, 12-month range 293.00p-402.00p. Shore Capital Markets cuts the operator of the Transact platform to 'hold' from 'buy'. It believes "everything about this company is a buy", save for its valuation which it now deems to be "fair". "We would back the company to carry on outcompeting the opposition, but see this as already discounted in the price," Shore says.

----------

London Stock Exchange Group, down 1.5% at 8,229.00p, 12-month range 6,684.00p-10,140.00p. The stock extends its decline after a 4.7% slump on Tuesday, when it confirmed it is in talks to buy financial data firm Octus for USD3.5 billion from private equity firm Permira. However, LSEG said that it and Permira have not reached any final agreement, and that no transaction is guaranteed. LSEG said it believes that acquiring Octus would be "immediately accretive" to its Data & Analytics and group revenue growth. On Wednesday, LSEG reports it is working with artificial intelligence chip maker Nvidia to aid financial institutions in analysing years of market data at "significantly greater speed and scale". The London-based stock exchange operator and data provider says users will be able to analyse LSEG tick history, which contains comprehensive historical market data, using Santa Clara, California-based Nvidia's cuDF data analysis offering.
