FTSE 100 & 250 movers in focus:

----------

BT Group PLC, up 5.7% at 225.05 pence, 12-month range 173.00p-242.09p. Virgin Media O2 is nearing a deal to use BT's Openreach fibre broadband network, the Financial Times reports, citing people familiar with the matter. Under the proposed agreement, Virgin Media O2 would use Openreach to serve new customers in areas not covered by its existing network. The telecoms operator is also reportedly pausing upgrades to its cable network as part of a wider cost-cutting programme. The report comes as Virgin Media O2's owners challenge the UK competition regulator's opposition to their GBP2 billion acquisition of fibre network operator Netomnia. Both BT and Virgin Media O2 decline to comment.

----------

AstraZeneca PLC, up 3.8% at 13,548.00 pence, 12-month range 9,892.00-15,732.00. The Cambridge, England-based pharmaceuticals company reports better-than-expected third-quarter sales and profit, supported by strong performance in Oncology and Rare Diseases and lower-than-forecast costs. Pretax profit rises 22% to USD3.96 billion from USD3.24 billion a year earlier, while revenue increases 6.7% to USD16.21 billion from USD15.19 billion, beating company-compiled consensus of USD15.94 billion. Oncology sales grow 15% to USD7.07 billion, ahead of expectations of USD6.99 billion, while Rare Diseases revenue rises 9% to USD2.63 billion, also beating forecasts. Core operating profit climbs 17% to USD5.86 billion from USD4.99 billion, exceeding consensus of USD5.36 billion by 9.3%, while core earnings per share rise 17% to USD2.79 from USD2.38, beating expectations of USD2.59. AstraZeneca highlights 47 regulatory approvals in major regions since its 2025 results and 12 positive phase III trial readouts. The company maintains its full-year guidance for mid-to-high single-digit percentage revenue growth and low-double-digit percentage core EPS growth at constant exchange rates. Chief Executive Pascal Soriot says AstraZeneca remains on track to achieve its 2030 ambitions and sustain growth into the next decade.

----------

NatWest Group PLC, down 7.4% at 588.40 pence, 12-month range 504.41p-788.20p. The Edinburgh-based lender says it cut 1,000 full-time equivalent jobs in the third quarter, for which it reports broadly in-line results, as lower-than-expected costs offset higher impairments and a slight miss on net interest income. Operating pretax profit rises 1.9% to GBP2.23 billion from GBP2.18 billion a year earlier, marginally ahead of consensus of GBP2.20 billion, while profit attributable to ordinary shareholders falls 4.1% to GBP1.53 billion from GBP1.60 billion. Total income increases 7.1% to GBP4.64 billion, in line with expectations, although net interest income of GBP3.56 billion misses consensus of GBP3.61 billion. Net interest margin improves to 2.50% from 2.37%, while impairment charges rise to GBP277 million from GBP153 million, exceeding expectations of GBP235 million. Operating expenses increase 7.1% to GBP2.14 billion, although other operating expenses of GBP2.09 billion come in below consensus of GBP2.15 billion. The cost-to-income ratio improves to 45.1% from 45.8%, supported by around GBP420 million in gross cost savings. Return on tangible equity eases to 21.6% from 22.3%, while the Common Equity Tier 1 capital ratio improves to 13.5% from 13.2% at the end of June. Chief Executive Paul Thwaite highlights continued growth in lending, deposits and assets under management across the bank's three customer franchises.
