LONDON (Alliance News) - Supply chain solutions business Wincanton PLC Tuesday said it has been awarded a three-year repair and maintenance contract by Argos for high-street retailer's fleet of heavy good vehicles.
Catalogue merchant Argos has been a staple of the UK high street since the 1970s, selling general goods including toys and kitchen utensils across its 740 stores. Together with sister company Homebase, it forms part of the Home Retail Group PLC alongside household furnishings firm Habitat.
The contract for Wincanton's commercial vehicle specialist Pullman Fleet Services, sees the business deploying nation-wide repair and maintenance solutions for around 1,500 vehicles and trailers, operating from seven locations across the UK.
Wincanton did not disclose the financial details of the deal.
Wincanton shares were up 1.9% Tuesday morning at 140.94 pence. Home Retail Group shares were up 0.3% at 199.70p.
