Wickes hails third-quarter performance, backs market profit forecast

23rd Oct 2025 11:54

(Alliance News) - Wickes Group PLC on Thursday reported a "strong period" in its third quarter for the thirteen weeks ended September 27, as revenue was boosted by sales growth in all areas of the business.

The Watford, England-based home improvement retailer reported that group revenue rose 6.9% to GBP420.1 million from GBP391.3 million a year prior. This was up 5.9% on a like-for-like basis.

Wickes' Retail revenue grew 6.7%, or 5.6% on a like-for-like basis, to GBP312.5 million.

There was strong demand in Retail from TradePro customers, which was driven by the increase in members to 632,000 from 564,000 a year prior.

DIY also fuelled Retail revenue with volumes driven by increasing customer transactions.

Wickes said its faster Click & Collect time of 15 minutes, previously 30 minutes, was "very popular", with Click & Collect sales up 18% year-on-year.

Design & Installation revenue grew 7.8% to GBP107.6 million, or 7.0% like-for-like, which marked a second consecutive quarter of positive delivered sales growth.

Total year-to-date revenue stood at GBP1.27 billion, up 6.0% or 5.0% like-for-like.

The company said it will open a further two stores in the fourth quarter, totalling five for the year.

Wickes said it was "comfortable" with the market consensus of GBP48.3 million for its 2025 adjusted pretax profit, which would be up 11% from GBP43.6 million in the financial year ended December 28, 2024.

Chief Executive David Wood said: "This has been another strong period for Wickes, with sales driven by an increase in volumes. Within Retail, our continued outperformance has seen us take further market share. In Design and Installation, the changes made to our offer are showing through in increased demand and ongoing momentum.

"Looking ahead, we remain well-placed for the full year as we continue to support our customers across all their home improvement projects."

Shares in Wickes rose 1.1% to 227.00 pence on Thursday morning in London.
