(Alliance News) - Vertu Motors PLC shares climbed on Thursday after the motor dealer said it expects yearly profit to beat market expectations.
Shares in Gateshead, England-based Vertu Motors rose 6.4% to 91.51 pence during in London around midday.
Vertu said that its trading performance in the five months to July 31 was above the prior year's levels, with a positive contribution from both new and used vehicles, an increased fleet market share and strong aftersales operations.
Vertu Motors welcomed the UK government's consultation on the zero emission vehicle mandate, the official public and industry consultation on electric vehicles launched earlier this month.
Chief Executive Officer Robert Forrester said: "We hope this will result in a more pragmatic transition to electrification which better reflects consumer demand and prevailing market conditions."
The company said it sees results beating market expectations in financial 2027. Market consensus puts adjusted pretax profit for the year GBP25.5 million, with a range of GBP24.5 million to GBP26.1 million.
In the year ended February 28, 2026, adjusted pretax profit totalled GBP24.5 million.
"Order-take levels for the important September plate change month give the board confidence that results for the full year will be ahead of market expectations," Vertu said.
