(Alliance News) - PrimaryBid on Monday announced the appointment of Donald Brydon as its new chair.
Founded in 2016, PrimaryBid gives individuals access to one-off company fundraisings by using a mobile app to combine stock orders from small investors into more substantial applications.
Chief Executive Anand Sambasivan said: "[Brydon] brings significant FTSE board experience and proven governance credentials at the highest levels of UK plc. His experience will be of great benefit as we continue to deliver on PrimaryBid's ambition to build more inclusive public markets through our technology."
Brydon will join the fintech company after almost a decade as chair of software company Sage Group PLC. The company said Brydon plans to retire as Sage's chair on Thursday, having taken up the role in 2012.
Brydon's planned departure from Sage was announced back in August of last year.
Previously, Brydon was the chair of engineering firm Smiths Group PLC and Royal Mail PLC. He is also the former chair of one of PrimaryBid's shareholders, the London Stock Exchange Group PLC.
The British businessman formerly served as non-executive director of Scottish Power PLC, AXA UK PLC and Aberdeen UK Tracker Trust.
Brydon said: "Being asked to become chair of such an ambitious and forward-thinking firm is a real privilege. Both individual investors and public companies stand to benefit when our capital markets are accessible to all, and PrimaryBid has been at the forefront of this inclusion agenda. As was highlighted in HM Treasury’s recent market consultation, facilitating wider participation in the ownership of public companies is important and technologically achievable. PrimaryBid is a dynamic, pioneering platform with world-class backing, and I am looking forward to helping guide it to further success."
