(Alliance News) - Unite Group PLC on Thursday announced organisational changes to reduce costs and strengthen its focus on partnerships with leading UK universities.
The Bristol, England-based student accommodation provider's move follows GBP241 million of property disposals completed so far this year.
Unite Group said the organisational changes across support functions and senior leadership responsibilities are expected to deliver annual cost savings from 2027, although it did not specify the amount.
As part of the restructuring, Unite appointed Paul Watson as managing director of operations, Will Atkinson as group property director and Moray Notman as group commercial and higher education director. All three will join the executive committee.
Chief Operating Officer Karan Khanna and Group Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs Rebecca Vicary are set to leave the company over the coming months after supporting the transition period.
Chief Executive Joe Lister said: "Our priority is to position Unite for future growth by aligning more closely with the UK’s strongest universities and focusing on delivering operational excellence.
"Delivering this strategy means changing how we are organised. A smaller, more focused business will better align with our strategic priorities, deliver savings and allow us to keep investing where it matters most.
"I am excited by our new executive team and look forward to working more closely with Paul, Will and Moray. I would personally like to thank Karan and Rebecca for their significant contributions to Unite and their support through the transition."
Unite Group shares rose 0.9% to 502.00 pence on Thursday afternoon in London.
