(Alliance News) - Unite Group PLC on Tuesday announced the completion of its 719-bed flagship Hawthorne House property in Stratford, London.
The London-based developer and operator of purpose-built student accommodation said the building is fully let for the start of the 2026/27 academic year, supported by a multi-year agreement with the University of the Arts London.
The GBP185.0 million development is a mixed-use scheme serving nearby university campuses, including the University of the Arts London's London College of Fashion. It includes modern cluster and studio flats, a free-to-use gym, karaoke room, roof terrace and dedicated study spaces.
The building's first six floors will serve as a sixth-form facility for the London Academy of Excellence. More than half of the 719 rooms are being let directly to students of the University of the Arts London.
The building was designed to maximise material performance and improve energy efficiency, helping it to exceed RIBA climate targets.
Unite Students Chief Executive Joe Lister said: "Hawthorne House is a unique and exciting new development, and we can't wait to welcome our university students and the London Academy of Excellence.
"The partnership with the University of Arts London, a world leading university for arts and design, supports our strategy to align with the UK's strongest universities.
"The scheme also helps to regenerate an important London gateway site, supports more local, young people into sixth-form education and frees up privately rented homes for families and young professionals."
Shares in Unite Group were down 0.3% to 525.50 pence per share Tuesday afternoon in London.
