LONDON (Alliance News) - Smiths Group PLC Thursday said that Roland Carter will take on the role of president of its Smiths Interconnect business, having been appointed on an interim basis six months ago.
Smiths Interconnect designs and manufactures electronic components and sub-systems for the telecommunications, aerospace, defence, space, data centres, medical, rail, test and industrial markets.
Carter previously acted as managing director of the Connectors business unit of Smiths Interconnect for nearly 10 years, and prior to that held a number of positions in Smiths Medical.
"Roland undertook the leadership role after a difficult three years for Interconnect and has helped restore growth both in revenue and underlying profits," said Chief Executive Phillip Bowman in a statement. "Maintaining this momentum in difficult trading remains a priority as the business is rebalanced towards faster-growing markets over the long term. Roland's effective mix of strong engineering and commercial skills equips him well for the task."
Shares in Smiths Group are trading up 0.3% at 1,230.00 pence Thursday afternoon.
