SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Reach ad sales hit; Lookers gets EV charge

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Wednesday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Lookers PLC, up 4.2% at 81.13 pence, 12-month range 59.70p-102.00p. The motor dealer says the new UK retail car market grows by 1.0% in the fourth quarter of 2022, after falling 1.5% in the third. Lookers says it outperforms the wider market by about 3.1%. Group like-for-like unit sales rise 8.6% on-year in the final quarter. It also wins a deal to represent an unnamed Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, which is eyeing entry to the UK market. Caffyns PLC rises 7.0% in a positive read-across.

Hostelworld Group PLC, up 4.0% at 121.00 pence, 12-month range 57.00p-128.52p. The hostel booking company hails a "recovery in Europe and in particular, Asia and Oceania" as net bookings hit 4.8 million in 2022. Revenue amounts to EUR70 million, compared to EUR16.9 million in 2021. "As we exit 2022 and begin 2023, we are also pleased to report that early trading results are in line with expectations," it adds.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

Reach PLC, down 26% at 80.80p, 12-month range 64.40p-282.00p. The Daily Mirror owner says revenue in the fourth quarter to December 25 dropped 4.2% year-on-year. Annual revenue was 2.3% lower. During the final quarter, advertising revenue alone slumped 20%.
