SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Avon wins helmet order; Foxtons falls

29th Sep 2022 10:56

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Thursday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Avon Protection PLC, up 6.7% at 1,088.50 pence, 12-month range 732.00p-2,098.00p. The personal protection equipment maker rises as it wins a first delivery order from the US Army for a "next generation" helmet. The order is worth USD42.1 million.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Marston's PLC, down 3.9% at 35.57p, 12-month range 34.71p-85.00p. Worries about dwindling consumer confidence, as well as a poor read-across from peer Mitchells & Butlers PLC, hit shares in the pub operator. Mitchells & Butlers on Thursday welcomed UK energy price cap measures but warned it expects its total energy and utility costs to be doubled from pre-virus levels. Mitchells & Butlers is down 7.4%.

----------

Foxtons Group PLC, down 8.5% at 30.19p, 12-month range 30.00p-53.20p. The stock falls to a 12-month low on a day when the wider residential property sector struggles. Property listing portal Zoopla warns price sensitivity is showing signs of returning to the UK housing market as house buying power takes a hit, amid recent Bank of England rate hikes.
