SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Alfa Financial jumps on contract certainty

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Tuesday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

Alfa Financial Software Holdings PLC, up 7.0% at 175.50 pence, 12-month range 132.50p - 221.00p. Increased its expectations for the full-year thanks to improved contractual certainty and strong trading since its half-year results announcement at the start of September. The financial software provider explains it achieved improved contractual certainty with two clients and received requests for additional people on other projects. In addition, Alfa says its performance in August was "very strong" with chargeable days at a "record level".

SThree PLC, up 4.1% at 364.50 pence, 12-month range 312.50p - 610.00p. The recruitment firm says its full-year profit performance is expected to be ahead of consensus following "excellent" third quarter growth, driven by successes across all its key regions. In the three months to August 31, net fees total GBP111.8 million, up 19% from GBP91.0 million the previous year. Adds its contractor order book at August 31 is up 24% against the previous year. As a results, expects pretax profit for the year to November 30 7% ahead of company compiled market consensus of GBP71.2 million.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

Xaar PLC, down 3.6% at 212.04 pence, 12-month range 141.00p - 275.00p. Reports a "strong" interim performance in line with company expectations, despite the impact of Covid-19 and cost inflation. In the six months ended June 30, the industrial inkjet manufacturer posts a narrowed pretax loss of GBP301,000. The previous year the Cambridge, England-based firm posted a loss of GBP1.3 million. Revenue in the half-year totals GBP36.6 million, up 39% from GBP26.3 million the year prior. Xaar explains that its printhead business performed well, noting strong growth in Europe and the US, which offset a Covid-19-related slowdown in China.
