12th Dec 2019 11:33

(Alliance News) - Oil & gas company Savannah Petroleum PLC on Thursday said it has hired Antoine Richard, its former vice president of operations, as chief operating officer.

Richard will take over the role with immediate effect from David Clarkson, who will return to the board as a non-executive director after a year and a half as COO.

Richard was VP of operations for Savannah between 2016 and 2018, and prior to this worked for French oil major Total SA as well as independent oil & gas firm Perenco. He will be based in Lagos.

Andrew Knott, chief executive officer of Savannah Petroleum, said: "I would like to warmly welcome Antoine back to the company. He brings a significant amount of operational experience to the Savannah team and joins at a very exciting time. I would also like to thank David for his significant contribution as we executed on our Niger operational campaign and conducted the integration of our Nigerian assets."

Shares in Savannah were down 2.9% at 20.39 pence per share on Thursday in London.
