(Alliance News) - RWS Holdings PLC shares rose on Thursday after it named former Bytes Technology Group PLC chair Patrick De Smedt as its new chair.
RWS shares rose 3.9% to 130.00 pence in London on Thursday afternoon.
The Maidenhead, England-based translations and artificial intelligence solutions provider said De Smedt would become an independent non-executive director, and chair of the company, starting on October 8.
De Smedt, who retired from Bytes Technology on September 4, currently serves on the boards of two private-equity-backed technology companies, Node4 Ltd and Rent Company BV, RWS said.
RWS also highlighted De Smedt's executive role at Microsoft Corp, where he founded the Benelux subsidiaries.
The company thanked Andrew Brode, who has served as interim chair over the last nine months and will step down following De Smedt's appointment. Brode will remain as a non-executive director.
