(Alliance News) - Tesco PLC is among the bidders looking into buying Majestic Wine Group, Sky News reported on Saturday.
Majestic's owner, Fortress Investment Group, kicked off a formal sale process several weeks ago, Sky News reported. A potential price remains unclear, although analysts cited by Sky News suggested a sale could fetch hundreds of millions of pounds.
Majestic operates more than 200 stores across the UK and Jersey and supplies the hospitality sector through its commercial business and Enotria brand.
One analyst told Sky News that grocer Tesco could pursue an acquisition through its Booker wholesale arm.
Tesco shares fell 1.2% to 469.00 pence each in London on Friday.
