LONDON (Alliance News) - The BBC is understood to have held talks with rivals including ITV PLC about launching a video streaming service similar to Netflix Inc, the Guardian reported Thursday.
The service is likely to focus mostly on providing older archive television content, not the first-run of shows, although it is understood there could be a certain amount of original commissions, the report said.
At the moment, consumers can watch BBC content on demand through the BBC iPlayer, but this content moves off the service after 30 days.
A spokesperson for ITV was not immediately available for comment.
