(Alliance News) - Petards Group PLC on Wednesday said it has been awarded a contract worth over GBP1.3 million to supply Porterbrook Maintenance Ltd with its eyeTrain systems.

Shares in the security and surveillance systems provider were up 24% at 8.05 pence in London on Wednesday.

The work, which is worth "in excess" of GBP1.3 million, is for the supply of Petards eyeTrain systems which will be fitted to 19 Class 769 Flex trains. The trains will be operated by Great Western Railway and are expected to be introduced on services running between Reading and Gatwick during 2021.

Deliveries are expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2021.

"We are delighted that Petards has been selected by Porterbrook and Great Western Railway to work with them on this exciting first UK tri-mode trains project. This new contract provides us with a strong start to 2021 and builds upon our order book," said Chair Raschid Abdullah.
