(Alliance News) - Orosur Mining Inc on Tuesday announced that partial drilling results have shown surface gold mineralisation at the El Cedro prospect, at its Anza Project in Colombia.
In response, Orosur shares shot up 27% to 16.50 pence on Tuesday afternoon in London.
The South America-focused minerals explorer and developer, which started the drilling campaign at El Cedro in late August, noted that CED001, the first drill hole there, showed a composite intersection of 61.35 metres at 0.93 grams per tonne of gold from surface, including 42.15 metres at 1.02 g/t from 91 metres.
Orosur also said that channel sampling of the surface veins returned up to 8.83 g/t of gold, but that "the veins interpreted to have been intersected in this current zone, were the lowest grade of those at surface, at less than 0.5g/t Au, suggesting that vein scale and tenor may increase substantially with depth."
Orosur said samples from 61.3 metres to 86 metres have been submitted for testing, and that it expects results in the near-term future. The hole is current at 130 metres, and Orosur expects to complete its extension to 500 metres by the end of this month.
El Cedro currently has one dedicated rig, and Orosur plans to drill two more holes from the same pad once CED001 is finished.
Orosur believes the results are "highly encouraging," being "evidence of a substantial porphyry/hydrothermal mineralised system."
"Real grassroots discoveries have become very rare in modern times - and we possibly have two…so far," commented Chief Executive Officer Brad George. "This is testament to the geological potential of the Anza Project and Colombia as an exploration destination, but mostly to the talent and dedication of the local team."
