5th Apr 2019 10:35

LONDON (Alliance News) - Murgitroyd Group PLC said Friday it appointed Willie MacDiarmid as a non-executive director and deputy chair of the intellectual property law firm with effect from last Monday.

MacDiarmid - who is currently chair of Smart Metering Systems PLC - previous served as chief operating office at EAGA PLC and as chief executive of May Gurney PLC. This followed a long period at Scottish Power where he held a number of senior positions including energy retail director.

As deputy chair, MacDiarmid will replace Edward Murgitroyd who took up the role of CEO at Murgitroyd in February.

"I would like to welcome Willie MacDiarmid to the board of Murgitroyd," Chair Ian Murgitroyd said. "Willie possesses a wealth of expertise and experience and we are delighted to have been able to attract an individual with Willie's track record and credentials to join our board."

Shares in Murgitroyd were untraded at 534.50 pence on Friday.
