(Alliance News) - Monadelphous Group Ltd on Friday announced its non‑process infrastructure unit Kerman Contracting has secured a design and construction contract with London‑based miner Rio Tinto PLC for works at the Brockman Syncline 1 project in Western Australia.
The Perth, Australia-based engineering and construction services group said the AUD165 million contract, approximately USD115.9 million, covers the delivery of non‑process infrastructure facilities at the Pilbara iron ore development, including a heavy mine equipment workshop, washdown areas for heavy and light vehicles, tyre‑change bays and fuel storage and refuelling infrastructure.
Monadelphous said work is scheduled to begin in 2026 and run through to 2028.
Managing Director Zoran Bebic said: "Kerman's award of this work builds on the multidisciplinary construction contract that Monadelphous secured at BS1 late last year. It is also very pleasing to see Kerman secure another contract with Rio Tinto, in addition to the work currently being performed at Hope Downs 2."
Shares in Monadelphous ended 1.6% lower at AUD28.49 in Sydney on Thursday while Rio Tinto shares closed up 1.8% at AUD168.41. In London, Rio Tinto shares ended 2.3% higher at 7,136.00 pence.
