London Stock Exchange partners with Nvidia to speed up data analysis

14th Oct 2026 08:41

(Alliance News) - London Stock Exchange Group on Wednesday said it is working with artificial intelligence chip maker Nvidia Corp to aid financial institutions in analysing years of market data at "significantly greater speed and scale".

The London-based stock exchange operator and data provider said users will be able to analyse LSEG tick history, which contains comprehensive historical market data, using Santa Clara, California-based Nvidia's cuDF data analysis offering.

"This collaboration expands how customers can draw insight from LSEG's trusted, governed tick history. Customers want to work with detailed historical data at speed, without the burden and risk of creating another full copy. This helps firms analyse deeper histories closer to the point of decision, while keeping the permissions and controls they rely on fully intact," said Ron Lefferts, LSEG's co-head of Data & Analytics.

LSEG tick history holds 110 trillion rows of data across 100 million instruments spanning more than 30 years and more than 580 exchanges, trading venues and contributors, the firm explained. In the first half of 2026, traffic over LSEG's real-time network grew by 29% year-on-year, reaching a new peak of 26 million messages per second in June.

Shares in LSEG were down 1.1% at 8,256.00 pence each in London on Wednesday morning. Nvidia closed up 1.0% at USD228.52 in New York on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, shares in LSEG fell 4.7% after it confirmed it is in talks to buy financial data firm Octus for USD3.5 billion from private equity firm Permira.

However, LSEG said that it and Permira have not reached any final agreement, and that no transaction is guaranteed.

LSEG said it believes that acquiring Octus would be "immediately accretive" to its Data & Analytics and group revenue growth.

In a separate statement, Nvidia announced a five-year compute donation valued at USD250 million to strengthen the UK's agentic safety and security research capability.

The majority of the funds will support the wider UK artificial intelligence safety and security research community, with a proportion supporting work with the British Open-Ended Learning & Discovery Lab, the Science of Fundamental AI Research Lab and Imperial College London, Nvidia said.

"With this USD250 million commitment, Nvidia will put accelerated computing in the hands of UK researchers to develop, test and strengthen safeguards for increasingly powerful AI. This is how the UK turns research leadership into real-world solutions - and scientific progress into a future that benefits everyone," said Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang.
