(Alliance News) - London BTC Company Ltd on Friday said high-grade antimony has been identified 120 metres south of its Black Star gold-silver project in Nevada, adding a potential critical-minerals dimension to the asset.
Antimony is designated a critical mineral in the US, with important defence applications including ammunition and other military systems, as well as uses in batteries, flame retardants and semiconductors.
The bitcoin miner with operations in the US and Canada announced a gold discovery at Black Star in July, with surface sampling reporting grades of up to 16.2 grams per tonne gold and 50.5 grams per tonne of silver.
The company said the gold and silver mineralisation at Black Star sits within the same mineralised corridor as the antimony mineralisation immediately south of its claims.
London BTC said research by its geological team had highlighted the area's potential for high-grade antimony discoveries.
Antimony was not included in the analytical suite used for the company's 2026 rock-chip programme, but will be included in future assays.
Field teams will be mobilised in late August to conduct further gold-silver-antimony sampling at Black Star.
Chair David Lenigas said the US is import-dependent on antimony and is actively funding domestic supply, making a gold-silver project with a potential antimony credit "a materially more attractive proposition than either metal on its own."
Shares in London BTC closed up 3.1% at 1.65 pence on Friday in London.
