(Alliance News) - Kefi Godl and Copper PLC shares soared as development resumed at its Tulu Kapi site in western Ethiopia following its suspension following the fatal Genji incident in September.
Shares in the Arabian- and Nubian- Shield-focused gold and copper exploration and development company were up 27% to 0.76 pence each on Monday morning in London.
Since the Genji incident on September 4, Kefi said it has held talks with community representatives, the leaders of Ethiopian and Oromia governments, their agencies, and stakeholders.
Following the "successful" consultations, Kefi said it has recommenced work at Tulu Kapi in a "phased and measured approach", including construction for project electricity infrastructure and mobilisation for new access roads.
This will be followed by replacing housing and lands for community resettling for the mining licence area. Kefi said this will allow for the initial construction of security infrastructure, bulk earthworks, and permanent accommodation facilities for the workforce.
Executive Chair Harry Anagnostaras-Adams said: "We are enjoying huge support from all stakeholders and are now restarting development with a phased and measured approach in which we reinforce the emphasis on safety and community benefits.
