(Alliance News) - Cumbria-based marine services firm James Fisher & Sons PLC on Friday said it has been awarded a five-year service contract with the Royal Navy.
The "multi-million-pound" contract is for ensuring operational readiness of life-support diving equipment and was awarded to James Fisher's JFD specialist technical business.
JFD, an underwater capability provider, has a 20-year relationship with the Royal Navy and will be responsible for maintaining its life-support diving equipment, including JFD's Shadow rebreather system.
James Fisher Chief Executive Eoghan O'Lionaird: "This contract award is testament to JFD's market-leading reputation and status as the Royal Navy's underwater life support partner of choice. As pioneers of safety improvements in military diving, we're delighted to secure this new five-year contract, continuing our long-standing partnership with the Royal Navy."
James Fisher shares were up 1.9% at 1,165.80 pence early Friday in London.
