(Alliance News) - Ireland's unemployment rate moved back above 5% last month, for the first time since March, numbers on Thursday showed.
The Central Statistics Office said the jobless rate edged up to 5.1% in July from 5.0% in June.
It is the highest jobless rate hit its loftiest level since March, when it was also 5.1%. In April and May, the unemployment rate was 4.9%.
A year prior, the unemployment rate was 5.0%.
"The seasonally adjusted number of people unemployed was 149,900 in July 2026, compared with 147,100 in June 2026. There was a rise of 2,600 in the seasonally adjusted number of people unemployed in July 2026 when compared with July 2025," CSO analyst Conor Delves said.
