Iofina reports first quarter record for iodine production

15th Apr 2026 13:11

(Alliance News) - Iofina PLC reported on Wednesday "record" levels of iodine production for the first quarter, and it now anticipates half-year output above expectations.

Iofina Resources, the London-based company's subsidiary, produced 178.9 metric tonnes of crystalline iodine from its eight Oklahoma plants, a 44% year-on-year increase.

"The company experienced a record Q1 with a strong operational performance, as new capacity was added in H2 2025 and higher-than-usual brine temperatures contributed to the significant increase in iodine production," Iofina said.

The iodine exploration and production company now expects to produce closer to 385 metric tonnes of crystalline iodine, exceeding previous guidance of 325-355 metric tonnes.

Iofina also said that demand for raw iodine remains "strong", while spot prices have stayed above USD70 per kilogramme.

The company noted that it continues to monitor global supply chain issues in light of "recent global events" but said that Iofina has so far not been affected.

Iofina reported "good progress" on the development of a new plant in the Permian Basin, announced in partnership with Western Midstream in December 2025. The plant is "on track" to be operational late in the third quarter of 2026.

The company expects to report its full-year 2025 results by early May.

Shares in Iofina were up 6.8% to 31.50 pence in London on Wednesday afternoon.
