International Personal Finance profit dips ahead of Basepoint takeover

29th Jul 2026 13:32

(Alliance News) - International Personal Finance PLC on Wednesday reported mixed first half results as its takeover by BasePoint Capital LLC heads towards completion.

The Leeds, England-based lender, which agreed to the GBP543 million all-cash takeover by New York-based BasePoint back in December, said pretax profit fell 14% to GBP42.8 million in the six months ended June 30 from GBP49.9 million the year prior.

Half-year revenue climbed 19% to GBP413.2 million from GBP347.8 million, with customer numbers up 5% year on year to 1.7 million, supported by good demand and an expanded product set.

Customer lending and closing net receivables increased by 18% and 17% respectively, with all three divisions performing well.

No interim dividend was declared versus 3.8 pence per share a year ago. A special dividend of 15p per share has already been declared subject to the takeover being approved. The scheme by which the deal is being facilitated is expected to become effective on August 4 with all regulatory approvals and clearances having now been received.

"We have delivered a good first half performance, with continued strong growth in customer numbers, lending and receivables, supported by robust demand for our products, disciplined execution and stable credit quality," said Chief Executive Gerard Ryan.

Shares in International Personal Finance were up 0.2% at 249.50p each in London on Wednesday.
