Rockfire Resources PLC - Australia and Greece-focused gold, base metal and critical mineral explorer - Says a maiden JORC resource estimate for germanium at its Molaoi zinc deposit in Greece will be delayed by several weeks. In a September 29 release, the company said it expected to start within four weeks, implying a start date around the end of October. The JORC, being carried out by GeoRes Mining Consultants, is delayed due to the identification of "a number of new zones of mineralisation," the company explains, which has results in a re-interpretation of the resource model.
Drill hole HMO-022 reached a depth of 308.90 metres and intersected five zinc lodes, with preliminary portable X-ray fluorescence readings peaking at 48% zinc. Core samples have been sent for laboratory analysis. Drilling continues to upgrade the existing mineral resource classification, with hole HMO-023 under way. A drone-based magnetic survey has been completed, while Rockfire awaits results from ore sorting tests conducted by Norway-based TOMRA to assess whether processing can improve ore grades ahead of a feasibility study planned for 2027.
Chief Executive Officer of Rockfire David Price says "The delay in the resource estimation delivery date, whilst regrettable, is a good sign that the germanium intercepts are so prolific and require considerably more work than first anticipated by the consultant."
