HICL Infrastructure PLC - closed-end fund managed by InfraRed Capital Partners Ltd that invests in infrastructure projects - Calls general meeting of shareholders for November 16 to seek approval for its new investment policy. The new policy takes account of the expansion of the infrastructure market since HICL's launch in 2006. At the time, the fund's primary focus was private finance initiative and public private partnership concessions.
The policy also reflects the trust's new strategy, announced in July, to increase its emphasis on capital growth, compared to income generation only. This will be achieved through higher returning infrastructure investments the trust is calling "enhancers". The first of these was announced late last month. HICL will invest about GBP68 million for a 42% stake in Hector Rail, the largest private rail freight operator in Scandinavia. Together, funds managed by InfraRed will acquire 100% of Hector Rail. Under HICL's new investment policy, such enhancer investments can be up to 25% of total assets.
Current stock price: 131.37 pence for GBP2.44 billion market capitalisation
12-month change: up 7.2%
