Gemfields Group Ltd - London-based miner and marketer of coloured gemstones - Confirms that its "G-factor for natural resources" for its 75%-held Zambia-based Kagem Mining Ltd stands at 17% for 10 year from 2016 to 2025, down from 20% for the 2015-2024 period. Over this period, G-factor for 75%-held Montepuez Ruby Mining Ltda in Mozambique is at 26%, up slightly from 25%, however. The "G-factor for natural resources" reveals the percentage of natural resource revenue paid to the government of the host country in the form of mineral royalties, corporation tax and, where the relevant government is a shareholder, dividends.
First announced in 2021, Gemfields shares its G-factor annually in an effort to promote greater transparency and accountability over the level of natural resource wealth shared with the host country's government.
