IN BRIEF: CRISM Therapeutics starts patient recruitment for study

CRISM Therapeutics Corp - British Virgin Islands-based pharmaceutical firm - On Thursday, announced that the first clinical site for its phase 2 study of irinotecan ChemoSeed for the treatment of glioblastoma has now been formally activated and patient recruitment has started. CRISM says formal site activation is "a significant milestone" for ChemoSeed's clinical development programme. It enables the clinical team to start identifying, screening and enrolling eligible patients into the study.

"Opening this study to patient recruitment is a significant milestone in developing this novel treatment platform. Glioblastoma remains one of the most challenging cancers to treat, with recurrence frequently occurring close to the site of the original tumour despite surgery and subsequent treatment," says Garth Cruickshank, member of CRISM's scientific advisory board and emeritus professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Birmingham.

Current stock price: 11.50 pence each, closed 2.2% higher on Friday in London
