Home Retail's Argos Partners With Cherokee For Clothing Range Launch

21st Jan 2015 11:50

LONDON (Alliance News) - Home Retail Group PLC's general retail chain Argos Wednesday said it has partnered with clothing brand Cherokee to launch a fashion range in its Argos stores later this year.

Argos, which sells everything from TVs and hoovers to toys and clothing, said it will be launching an "exclusive" UK Cherokee range in the summer, both online and in its stores across the UK. It said the product range will include clothing, accessories and footwear for the Autumn/Winter 2015 season.

"Part of our transformation strategy is to broaden our product ranges and bring on board more great brands which our customers know and want. Cherokee is already a well-established clothing brand with UK shoppers and we are pleased to be able to offer our customers convenient, nationwide access to a range of new, quality Cherokee products later this year," said Argos Chief Operating Officer David Robinson in a statement.

Argos already sells a number of fashion brands for both children and adults, including Puma, Firetrap and Baby Converse. Other category brands new to Argos including Bose, Habitat, Dualit and KitchenAid.

Lat week, Home Retail revealed that trading over the 18-weeks to January 3 was below market expectations, particularly in terms of sales for both Argos and at its DIY improvement chain Homebase. The group said its Argos unit traded "cautiously" over the key Christmas period, meaning sales rose only slightly but gross margins were also higher.

Home Retail shares were trading 1.2% lower at 201.40 pence before midday Thursday
