(Alliance News) - HgCapital Trust PLC said Thursday it will maintain its dividend payment already proposed for 2019.
The investment trust, however, said it is changing its 2019 final dividend of 3.0 pence to a second interim dividend. As a result, a vote on the payout will be removed from the company's upcoming annual general meeting.
"The board fully recognises the importance of cash dividends to all of our ordinary shareholders, especially in these times of global unprecedented challenge and while it is too early to accurately quantify the impact of the crisis on the portfolio's performance in 2020, the board has decided to maintain total dividends paid in respect of 2019 by paying a second interim dividend instead of a final dividend as previously announced," HgCapital Trust said.
On the subject of Covid-19, the company noted that it was "too early to accurately quantify the impact of the crisis on the portfolio's performance in 2020", with a first-quarter valuation due May 11.
Shares in HgCapital Trust were 1.3% lower in London on Thursday at 224.98 pence each.
