(Alliance News) - Helix Exploration PLC on Friday said a regulator has granted an exemption allowing it to recommence operations at its Rudyard facility.
In response, Helix shares were 7.8% higher at 29.20 pence in London at afternoon.
The London-based, US-focused helium producer and liquefier had previously, in early September, announced a regulatory pause in production at Rudyard in relation to the handling of associated gas. This had followed a visit from the Montana Board of Oil & Gas Conservation.
"Due to Helix being the first producer of helium gas in Montana, there are processes in relation to the production of helium gas that have not yet been clearly defined," Helix said at the time.
On Friday, following a hearing before the MBOGC the prior day, Helix announced that the regulator has granted an exemption allowing it to vent waste gas at Rudyard, and therefore to restart operations there immediately.
Helix said it has commenced the process of restarting the wells and production facility. It expects "within the coming days" to recommence filling tube trailers on a continuous rotation basis, pursuant to its helium spot sales agreement announced in late September, and said that both of its leased tube trailers are ready at the facility.
The company intends to make a further announcement once it has restarted filling and re-established flow rates.
"We thank the Montana Board of Oil & Gas Conservation for granting its approval to restart operations at Rudyard," Helix Chief Executive Officer Bo Sears commented. "We look forward to bringing the wells back on and restarting the facility while simultaneously advancing our field expansion programme."
