LONDON (Alliance News) - Smiths Group PLC Thursday said the president of its Smiths Detection unit, Mal Maginnis, has stepped down for personal reasons to relocate back to Singapore and pursue other interests.
The company said he will be leaving after a suitable transition period and the process to appoint a permanent replacement is underway. For the interim period, the divisional management will be reporting to the company's Chief Information Officer Brian Jones who will look after the day-to-day running of Smiths Detection.
The unit makes airport screening scanners and biological and chemical agent detectors for the military and security agencies. It posted revenue of GBP559 million in fiscal 2013, out of total company revenue of GBP3.12 billion, and was one of the main growth drivers.
Smiths Group shares were up 0.2% to 1,400 pence Thursday.
